A few other terms you may hear.
Static Brake Test This is where the foot brake is applied with constant pressure and the movement of the brake pedal noted. The hand brake is then released and again any movement of the foot brake is noted. There should be no movement of the foot brake under pressure. Any movement may indicate that there is a leak of brake fluid. Servo Brake Test With the engine off apply constant pressure to the foot brake and start the engine. You should notice that the brake pedal
sinks slowly towards the floor, which indicates that a vacuum is present in the servo. Power Steering Test With the engine off apply a slight pressure to the steering wheel without actually moving the wheels and start the engine. You should feel the steering wheel move which indicates that the power steering pump is functioning. Be careful not to dry steer. |
