Group Associate Scheme
The
Group Associate (GA) Scheme is designed to assist would-be IAM members to prepare for the Advanced Driving Test.
The scheme provides you with the opportunity to obtain practical feedback on your driving during a series of drives of similar style and duration to the test itself. We will assign an Observer to you. An Observer is an experienced driver who has passed the IAM test and been trained to assess others to
this standard. Your Observer will coach you in the techniques and skills of Advanced Driving.
Your Observer will contact you and arrange a series of runs during which you will drive your vehicle and the Observer will provide guidance and feedback during and after the run. Each session will last between one to two hours and will cover various road types and conditions.
Upon the completion of every run your Observer will provide you with a “run sheet” detailing 29
different aspects of your driving together with a Good, Average or Poor rating against each and additional comments. These sheets will allow you to monitor your progress.
Once your Observer considers you are ready to take the test, (generally after 5 to 6 runs) they will either put you forward for a mock test with a Senior Observer or suggest that you apply for the test directly. Why wait, join up now online.
Observers give their time voluntarily. They are not paid.
